Web Publishing Platform Squarespace Expands Marketing Team; Names Deborah Uri CMO
11.12.2010– New York: Squarespace (www.squarespace.com) a leading developer of world-class web publishing tools, announced today that it is expanding its marketing team in order to fully support the company’s business objectives and product development plans for 2011 and beyond.
The expansion of the marketing team reflects Squarespace’s commitment to extending its range of consumer facing premium web publishing services and products, building its capabilities and ensuring that it has the most creative and relevant marketing in the industry.
Squarespace’s expanded marketing team will now be led by Deborah Uri, a business and marketing executive with more than 15 years experience, who has been named Chief Marketing Officer. Deborah will assume overall responsibility for Squarespace’s marketing strategy and oversee all advertising, branding, direct, trade and product marketing. In a related announcement, Matt Haggerty has been appointed director of acquisitions, reporting to Ms. Uri.

Ms. Uri most recently ran her own consulting practice in Europe, working through all stages of the business life-cycle for clients such as Electronic Arts, Benchmark Capital (now Balderton Capital), Index Ventures and Harrods, reporting directly to Mohammad Al Fayed. Previously, she was general manager, online dating at Yahoo! Europe and has also served in a variety of roles in marketing, planning, operations and corporate development at Yahoo! Prior to Yahoo!, Ms. Uri was a principal consultant at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (Gemini Consulting).
Ms. Uri holds a master’s degree from Columbia Business School and a bachelor of arts from Tufts University.

Mr. Haggerty joins Squarespace from InteractiveCorp (IAC) where he served as director of online marketing for Pronto.com. Previously, he was manager of online marketing at Maxim Magazine and manager of customer acquisition at Fastweb.com. Matt is also the founder of SubwayCrush.com. Mr. Haggerty holds a bachelors of science in marketing from University of Hartford, CT.
